First Worship Arts is led by our Associate Pastor of Worship, Ken Holland. Whether two or three background vocalists or a full choir, we consider everyone a part of a worship leader team. These teams are diverse in function and style, but share a common passion, vision, and purpose. Everyone who considers First Baptist home, is invited to explore the possibility of becoming a part of one of our teams. Whether you sing or play an instrument, are interested in drama, or the technical aspects of our ministries, you will find a multitude of opportunities to use your gifts for the Lord. Contact us by e-mail or call 843-5472 for additional information about how you can become a part of a worship-leading team.
One of the strategies upon which we have built our worship ministries is a committment to providing choices in style or worship. We offer three different music styles in our Sunday morning services in an effort to communicate with as many as possible. In choosing which service to attend, you will want to know something about the approach of each service. Check out the service style descriptions here.
It's time for WOP-WOP 2017! Sign up here.
In a galaxy far away, and in a future not too distant, the crew of spaceship J-316 is on a mission: trekking through the galaxy, bringing the Word of God to people everywhere! In the future, all written communication is now sent and stored digitally–nothing is written on paper. The Bible is stored on the Intergalactic Bible Data Base, allowing all people access to God’s Word. But there is a radical plot underway by a misguided, power-hungry ruler who is steadily erasing scriptures from the database. The crew of J-316 has just landed on a planet whose inhabitants still employ the age-old practice of Bible memorization. With the Word of God hidden in their hearts, they offer to go back to the ship with the crew to help restore the lost scriptures. But will they be able to stop the plot to steal scriptures away? Time is of the essence, and nothing in this world or beyond could be more important than making sure God’s Word remains available to people throughout the galaxy!
It’s time to get your reservations in for our 2017 WOP-WOP (Week of Play - Week of Praise) and prepare again for five jam-packed days of fun. It begins Monday, July 31st and runs through Friday, August 4th. Each morning from 9:00-12:15 we will meet in both large and small groups to learn songs from “Star Quest” that we will perform for the whole church on Sunday evening, August 6th at 6:30 pm. After lunch (provided) we’re off to all kinds of activities. We will conclude every day at 3:00 pm except Friday at 12:15 after the dress rehearsal.
WOP-WOP is open to all children who have completed grades 1-6 and is a “total package” event. The music and the activities cannot be separated. (To do the afternoon activities you must participate in the morning gatherings.) This will be our eighth year for WOP-WOP and we anticipate an enormous success once again. Both the Children’s Ministry and First Worship Arts are joining together to make this event available to our kids.
This reservation form is also available in the Children’s Ministry office or online at www.fbccabot.org. Please complete the form (one per family) and provide payment of $40 per child to the Children’s Ministry office. That $40 is good for the whole week of activities, lunches, snacks, and a cool “Star Quest” t-shirt! If you have more than two children attending, the cost will still not go beyond $80. Please note that a parent’s signature is also required to grant permission for transporting the children to and from the off-site activities. The deadline for reservations is Sunday, June 18th. Please return this completed form to the Children’s Ministry Office.
